Like any other phones, cordless phones also have four types of batteries. They are nickel cadmium, nickel-metal hydride, lithium, and lead acid rechargeable types. The difference among these batteries likely to be affected by the memory. Take nickel cadmium for example, they have a virtual memory that impose them to operate at the same level of performance after recharging. So, it is important to completely discharge a nickel cadmium battery before we recharge it to have the effective result. However, it’s not the same with Lithium batteries. They don’t have the same problem with nickel cadmium batteries. Lithium batteries are lighter in weight, maybe that is why they are also more expensive.
The rule that you need to follow is that you have to fully charge all batteries before we use them for the first time. This will lengthen the battery life and ensure good performance. Cordless phone batteries needs longer time to charge. So, you need to let them charging for 24 hours even when your charger shows that the batteries already full only after 10-15 minutes.
You also have to take care and maintain your cordless phone batteries too. If you keep on giving proper care and maintenance, your cordless phone batteries can be used over and over again with a series recharging cycles for more than a year. That’s why, when you are buying batteries don’t forget to ask for a warranty.
And if you want to prolong your cordless phone batteries all you need to do is discharging them fully and regularly before fully charging them. You only need to do this routine every two to three weeks.
Don’t worry to wear your cordless phone batteries out, because they even operate better when used often. On the other hand, if you don’t use them, they will wear out by themselves. So, if you leave for a holiday, don’t forget to replace the batteries from the phone and keep them in a cool and dry place. Again, if you come back, you need to fully charge the cordless phone batteries again before you can use the cordless phone.
